Definitions and samples

  • consistent (adj.) someone who is consistent always behaves in the same way, has the same attitudes towards people or things, or achieves the same level of success in something.

  • coherence (n.) the quality of a logical or orderly relationship of parts; consistency; unity

– Like dreams, they have a coherence that is easily bruised by interpretation.

  • adept (adj.) extremely skilled

– When you see a range of his work you realize how adept he was at handling paint.

  • data (n.) facts; information

– Mixed economic data has helped keep stocks hemmed into a trading range recently.

  • persevere (v.) to keep going, despite obstacles or discouragement; to maintain a purpose

– It is important to persevere and continue to search out the right opportunities.
