Definitions and samples
- adapt (v.) to adjust to the circumstances; to make suitable
– They adapt to the conditions here, the climate, the training, the food.
- qualify (v.) become fit; show that you are able
– they do not qualify for compensation payments
- polite (adj.) having good manners; behaving in a way that is socially approved
– Most of the kids were too polite to tell it to their parents, but it was evident in their behavior.
- tangible (adj.) able to be touched, solid
